HOST A REFUGEE

As a charity we do not get involved with the hosting registrations and matching as there are other, more experienced national charities that specialise in this. We do however help support any hosted family in settling here just like all our other settled families, with help with learning english, job searching etc.

RESET group  resetuk.org  - is a larger national organisation which is helping the government with matching Ukrainian refugees, as well as their existing remit of hosting other refugee nationalities

Refugees At Home -  refugeesathome.org  -is a small UK-based organisation that connects people with a spare room in their home with asylum-seekers and refugees in need of accommodation.

Room For Refugees -  roomforrefugees.com  - as above

Could you be a host?

Refugees at Home host, Bryony explains:

"There are no strict criteria to be a host... You can be single or in a relationship. There’s no maximum age or minimum age. I was 18 when I started hosting and the oldest is 94. If you’ve got a spare room (or even just a sofa bed for an emergency case)… that’s all you need."

OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
If you want to support Refugees at Home but can’t host, there are other ways you can help:
  • Refugees at Home needs home visitors to assess potential hosts. If you’re a health visitor, district nurse, social worker, mental health practitioner or similar and are willing to visit potential hosts – please contact them.
  • Tell your friends about Refugees at Home and put them in touch if they’re interested in hosting.
