SURREY AID LAUNCHES WINTER APPEAL

8 November 2016
Our friends at Surrey Aid have launched a fresh appeal for clothes, shoes, food and medical supplies for Syria.

Winter in Syria can be harsh with long periods of snow and temperatures below zero. It’s estimated there are 7 million internally displaced men, women and children living in makeshift shelters – these people are at risk from freezing temperatures and winter weather.

Surrey Aid Coordinator, Gemma Clancy, said:

"We’re collecting on behalf of One Nation. Please support our winter campaign and let’s save lives, together."

Items needed include:
  • Food – tinned food, tea and coffee, juice, rice and pasta, cereal and snacks.
  • Warm winter clothes – jumpers, coats and waterproofs, thermals, trousers, hats and scarves and boots.
  • Babies – nappies, milk formula and baby food, slings and snowsuits.
  • Medicine – first aid kits, paracetamol and ibuprofen, bandages and slings, walking sticks and crutches.
  • Bedding – sleeping bags and mats, winter blankets and survival blankets, duvets and pillows.
  • Toiletries – sanitary towels, adult incontinence pads, shampoo and shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

All items should be new or in excellent used condition. Food and medicine must be at least 6 months in date.

Download the full list of items.

Please drop off on Saturday 19 November to: Imber Court Sports Club, Rear Entrance, Ember Lane, East Molesey, KT8 0BT

They’re also looking for volunteers to help sort and pack the donations, please get in touch if you can help.

Notes:
  • Surrey Aid is collecting on behalf of Anaya Aid - registered charity number 1152971.
  • Gemma Clancy took over from long-term volunteer, Annette Jenkins in the summer.
