About the role
We’re looking for a community relations volunteer to join our passionate and committed team, working to resettle and welcome refugees within the Borough of Elmbridge. We need someone who can help us build and strengthen our links with local community organisations including charities, community groups, faith organisations and education providers. Having a great portfolio of community relationships and the ability to access a much wider audience will help us to more effectively support refugees who settle here.
Salary: Unpaid/voluntary
Location: Home-based
Hours: Flexible hours but must be able to commit to one day per week (min) or a couple of evenings.

KEY TASKS
- Strengthening relations with organisations in our current network and pursuing opportunities for them to be more involved in our work.
- Approaching new community and voluntary organisations to engage them/their members in our work.
- Organising speaking opportunities for the Elmbridge CAN team at appropriate meetings and events held by local community and voluntary organisations.
- Identifying organisations who might be interested in becoming Full Community Sponsors.
SKILLS
Essential
- Self-driven, motivated and enterprising individual.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate passionately and concisely.
- Experience building professional working relationships with external organisations.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
- Passion for the role and a commitment to the aims of Elmbridge CAN.
- Confidence presenting in public to small/medium sized groups.
- Some form of professional experience in client relations or business development.
- Knowledge/understanding of the current refugee crisis.
