We currently have around twenty volunteers who are working regularly with adults, children and young people as one to one ESOL teachers, homework helpers and subject specific tutors. We are so grateful to everyone who is giving up their time to make such a big difference. This is Jess, a primary school teacher who has been volunteering for about a year...
"I have tutored a seven year old girl in Cobham for over a year now. It has been amazing to see how hard she has worked to adapt to a new lifestyle at such a young age. She has been through so much having to leave her home and make new friends in a new culture. I feel so lucky to be part of her learning journey and able to support her whenever she needs it most. I have learnt so much about myself through the work, and Elmbridge CAN have been able to connect me to other professionals who are working closely with her at school.
