ELMBRIDGE CAN'S REFUGEE SUPPORT FUND GETS A BOOST FROM CROWDFUNDER GRANT

Elmbridge CAN has received £2,500 in match funding through Crowdfunder’s Just Act Community Fund.
The Just Act grants provide extra funding for people and projects that want to make a difference in their local area. It’s about communities working together.
 
Crowdfunder Spokesperson, Will Wagstaffe, said: 

“We’re proud to support volunteer-led community projects that will change lives for the better.”
 
We’ll use the money to support the needs of refugees and asylum-seekers in Elmbridge and the surrounding area, through our new Refugee Support Fund.
 
Elmbridge CAN’s Co-Chair, Vicki Felgate, said:
 
“We’re delighted to have been given this grant from Crowdfunder. It will make a huge difference to the lives of refugees living in the local area. But we couldn’t have done it without our supporters – you provided the first £2,500 that enabled us to apply for match funding. Thank you. We think you’re amazing.”
 
ABOUT THE FUND
Our Refugee Support Fund offers small grants of up to £200 to cover essentials such as:
  • travel cards to access education or employment
  • language and teaching support
  • play therapy and extra-curricular activities for children
  • activities that foster social inclusion
  • basic household items
  • clothes, including shoes, warm coats and school uniforms.
