JOIN THE #ExtendTheWelcome CAMPAIGN
23 July 2018
Citizens UK has recently launched a petition calling on Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, to extend the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme beyond 2020. The Government originally planned to resettle 20,000 Syrian refugees to the UK – so far just over 10,000 have been resettled, including 5 families that Elmbridge CAN has supported.
We believe the extension of the programme is vital to make sure thousands more vulnerable refugees will not be left behind. That’s why we’re launching a campaign to ask local MPs Dominic Raab and Phillip Hammond to support the Citizens UK campaign.
If you want to join us in asking them to #ExtendTheWelcome please read the letter below and add your name at the bottom to show your support. The more names we have, the more we can demonstrate that refugee resettlement is an issue that really matters to our community, and the more likely it is that our local MPs will take notice. So please sign and share with friends and family in Esher & Walton or Runnymede & Weybridge. |
