SUPPORT A FAMILY

We need people who can offer practical or emotional support to a refugee family.

Can you help?

It's easy to forget, when we use labels like 'Refugee' that these families are survivors, many are leaders, teachers, artists, and workers from all walks of life. Many are qualified business professionals, entrepreneurs or healthcare practitioners.

They are our new neighbours and our future friends.

All refugee families have experienced trauma and loss. They will need practical support as they start a new life. But the greatest gift we can give is friendship, community and belonging.

Please contact us if you would be willing to offer support in any of the following ways:
  • welcoming at the airport
  • setting up a new home
  • providing initial food
  • giving a local community orientation
  • taking families to appointments
  • helping families register for nurseries and schools, and access activities for children
  • providing a Child Welcome Kit - a package of age appropriate toys, books and activities
  • offering English language tutoring or conversational English practice
  • mentoring to help prepare for and find jobs.
  • donating materials
