This is a useful technique to try whenever you need to process unpleasant emotions or physical sensations. It uses a well known method among trauma therapists and support workers called  'bilateral stimulation' , to process distressing or adverse life experiences .

How do I get emotional help?

Know that you are not alone, so many people suffer emotionally, especially due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).   We hope these resources will be useful:

1.. In the UK we have a saying "5-a-day" fruit and veg to stay healthy, but here is  5-a-day to stay mentally strong  and also another resource  NHS Coping strategies for anxious times

2.If you feel overwhelmed, make an appointment with your GP - getting into the system is important for any free help, and he/she will judge if you need any medication if your emotional difficulties are affecting your ability to function or affecting your sleep.

3. Check out local low cost counselling offerings such as
The Counselling Partnership based in Walton , or
 The Kingston Womens Centre.org.uk .
or Waterloo Community Counselling (zoom and face to face) FREE FOR REFUGEES & ASYLUM SEEKERS
If you are Ukrainian, one of our volunteer therapist is offering free counselling to Ukrainian refugeees , contact John Wheeler  via email john@surreycounselling.org

4. Vicky Lord  is a trauma therapist volunteering with us, who has experience with adults and children. She is currently running well being support groups at our hubs., so please ask at your local hub if you are interested.  She can also help you find extra psychological support if needed  so ask your hub leader

5. If you are able to fund your own therapy or you self-refer and ask directly if they do refugee concessions  Counselling-Directory you can search for a local counsellor/therapist for adults or children, and speaking a specific language

6. Check out some youtube breathing videos by our resident yoga teacher florendia buckingham florendiayoga.com

7. If you suffer from nightmares , try the video below

8. If you are Ukrainian, check out the yellow section below for some more help
